The Storybook School
After School Program
Why TSS-AH?
The TSS After Hours Program (TSS AH) is open to all students enrolled in K-5th grade. The program offers consistent language models for Cantonese and Mandarin learners with positive relationships, hands on activities, snack time, and community explorations. Additionally, we will provide time for homework support by working with parents on expectations for their children. We may also provide time for piano practice or enrollment in special activities.
A walking school bus as well as a van is offered for schools with multiple children attending.

Can I drop off late or pick up early?
Our program will follow a weekly schedule. Children may miss certain activities. Let us know if you need to pickup early so we can keep your child onsite.
Will the teachers all speak Chinese?
There will be teachers that speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. The teachers are hired and expected to speak one language and use it consistently with the children. The children will, however, be exposed to the different dialects when they hear teachers talking to other children.
What is the program schedule?
There will be regular time for snack, free play, homework, community outings, Chinese tutoring, games, and enrichment activities that are to be determined per the parent survey. A schedule will be shared with parents upon enrollment.
How will children be grouped?
We will take the children's language ability and age into consideration when deciding on groups. The teachers are expected to use the target language consistently.
What kind of snacks will be provided?
We will follow the USDA guidelines, but will be nut free. Allergies will be accommodated with the proper forms.
What if my family doesn’t speak Chinese?
No prior language experience is necessary, but daily attendance in the program is cruicial for your children to enjoy and benefit from the program. Our expectation is for the children to become familiar with receptive, expressive, and Chinese character recognition.
